Yield : 0.2%. It therefore takes 100 kg of plant to obtain 200 ml of Helichrysum essential oil.

Immortelle or Italian Helichrysum is a perennial herbaceous plant, woody at the base. The leaves are alternate, very narrow and covered in hairs. This plant grows on rocks and dry hillsides in south-east France, Spain, Italy and Greece. It does not grow at higher altitudes. The essential oil has a very seductive, sweet, slightly smoky and spicy fragrance.

Better known as Immortelle, this plant has very fragrant golden yellow flowers. This essential oil is a must-have in your first-aid kit, even for old bruises and bumps. It keeps the skin healthy and beautiful, and can be used to treat those who want to get rid of traces of surgery, whether corrective or cosmetic, as well as rosacea and cracks, as quickly as possible. It regulates circulation disorders, phlebitis, varicose veins and haemorrhoids. As effective against bruises of the soul as those of the body, it helps put an end to resentment and anger.

*The chemotype is the essential oil's identity card, its composition chemically defined by chromatographic analysis. The same plant may have several compositions, depending on the location and variety. A chemotype determines a property, an odour or a taste. 

The essential oil of Italian Helichrysum is the only plant to contain neryl acetate (23%), which gives it all the properties lacking in other species. Its active ingredients include sesquiterpenes, monoterpenols, double ketones, diones (7% to 14%) and ketones (1.5% to 3%).
