Some information about patchouli

The young patchouli leaves are fermented and dried before being distilled. Patchouli was once used to scent cloths and clothes. It was believed to have mystical powers. Today, the essential oil is used as a raw material for cosmetics. Patchouli essential oil is said to be the strongest essence that can be extracted from a plant. Patchouli has a powerful, woody, earthy and dry smell with smoky, camphorous, liquorish and even musty accents.

Its typically warm and heavy oriental scent is widely used in the perfume industry to create sensual, powerful and heady fragrances. To limit its powerful aroma, you can combine it with bergamot, cedar, lavender, lemongrass and pine oils.

In the East, the antimicrobial, antiseptic and antiviral properties of this oil are used to stop the spread of disease. Thanks to its bactericidal, regenerative and astringent properties, it promotes the tightening of distended skin, tissue healing and cell regeneration. It also soothes inflammation, heals cracked and dry skin and skin problems. At the psychological level, it is one of the most beneficial essential oils for all problems of stress, depression, anxiety and ... sexual difficulties.

Advice for use

Essential oils are powerful natural substances and should therefore be used with care. Even though essential oils have been used since ancient times, there is often a lack of knowledge about how to use them and the precautions to take. Many books deal with essential oils. It is therefore advisable to refer to them to find out the traditional methods of use.

As an indication, here are some examples of use

Application by massage or compressIt is advisable to mix a few drops of essential oil with a vegetable oil (sweet almond, jojoba, macadamia, rose hip, argan, olive, etc.) to use it as a massage oil.

For leg comfort, you can dilute 10 drops of patchouli + 10 of lemon + 10 of geranium in 50 ml of jojoba, macadamia or sweet almond oil, then gently massage from the bottom to the top in the evening before bed.

To purify oily skin and promote skin regeneration, you can dilute 3 to 5 drops in a vegetable oil, then massage locally.

Use in the bath As essential oils are not water-soluble, they must be mixed with an emulsifier before being poured into the bath. For example, they can be mixed with a liquid soap, a neutral shampoo (1 tablespoon) or our Solubol® dispersant. As a general rule, it is recommended not to exceed 10 drops per bath and not to stay in the bath for more than 20 minutes. Disperse 10 drops of patchouli essential oil in a warm bath for healthy, regenerated skin and beautiful, light legs.

In case of itchy scalp or dandruff, mix 2 drops of patchouli essential oil with your shampoo dose.

Utilisation par voie orale  To promote energy and stimulate digestion, dilute 1 to 2 drops of patchouli essential oil in a teaspoon of honey or vegetable oil, preferably in the morning (maximum daily dose: 2 drops, i.e. 0.08 ml).

Use by diffusion  Its fragrance is reputed to keep insects away ... and ...

One cannot speak of Patchouli without mentioning its strong aphrodisiac effect: but this is not systematic. Its intoxicating scent can stimulate the libido or cause ... nausea! It pleases or displeases without nuance!

You can use it to create a sensual and delicately suave atmosphere by mixing 2 drops of Patchouli + 2 drops of Ylang Ylang + 2 drops of Orange.

An essential oil is made up of chemically defined molecules (about 10,000 listed) that have been secreted by special plant cells. It can consist of from one to several hundred molecules, which helps explain why some essential oils have many properties but different therapeutic effectiveness. To guarantee the properties necessary for effective aromatherapy, it is important that an essential oil is 100% pure and natural (not cut, not deterpenated, not mixed with alcohol or vegetable oils) and preferably organic. This is the case for the essential oils we sell. They are sold in tinted bottles with a dropper cap.
