L'Artisan Savonnier's potassium alum stone body deodorant from Laboratoire Gravier is used like a classic deodorant. Thanks to its astringent properties, potassium alum regulates the bacterial development that causes unpleasant odours from perspiration.

Used in the form of a sticker, simply moisten it before applying it to the desired part of the body (armpits, feet, etc.). An invisible film of mineral salts remains on the skin, tightening the pores and preventing bacterial growth, without blocking the natural elimination process that is perspiration.

The functional principle of Alum stone is completely different from classic deodorants. Instead of blocking perspiration, which is a natural function, it acts on the proliferation of bacteria present on the surface of the skin and which are the cause of body odour.

There are 2 types of alum stone on the market :

- The so-called "natural" type, which is composed of potassium alum from mining.

- The so-called "synthetic" type is made of ammonium alum, a residue from the heavy chemical industry. Its use could present risks to human health, particularly due to the presence of aluminium chlorohydrate. As such, it is prohibited by the GRAVIER Laboratory.

In order to choose the right Alum stone deodorant, only the chemical analysis of the composition can determine which Alum it is. This is the only indisputable scientific criterion. The name inci potassium alum must appear clearly and unambiguously on the packaging label of the deodorant. This is why the GRAVIER Laboratory carries out regular analyses to guarantee the exclusive use of all-natural potassium alum.
