This DIY (Do It Yourself) Detergent Kit is ideal for starting to create your own products using natural, healthy ingredients.

This kit is designed to make around 25 machines, or 3 litres of natural, effective liquid detergent, simply by adding water to the ingredients provided. That's about 1 month's washing powder for a family of 4!

It's made from soap shavings made from organic sunflower oil and coconut oil, plus a cocktail of ingredients that will easily get rid of grease, mud and oil stains on your clothes : soda crystals, bicarbonate of soda and wood ash.

This all-purpose detergent thoroughly cleans and naturally softens all fabrics, and is perfectly tolerated by even the most sensitive skin. Use for machine or hand washing. This detergent leaves a neutral scent as it containsno perfume.

This detergent kit is packaged in a kraft bag. Kraft is a strong paper made from softwood pulp. Unbleached, it is environmentally friendly, biodegradable and free of chemicals.

Soap shavings (Organic sunflower and coconut)
The fat used for saponification in these soap shavings is sunflower oil and coconut oil. Each vegetable oil has its own specific fatty acid content. It is these fatty acids which, once saponified, give the soap its properties. The fatty acids in sunflower oil are known to make the soap soft and smooth. Its composition is very similar to that of olive oil. Rich in Omega 9 and vitamin E, oleic sunflower oil is a natural antioxidant. The sunflower oil in this soap comes from the Ursule farm in Vendée, which is certified organic. Coconut oil is a very effective vegetable oil for making cold process soap, as it produces a beautiful, abundant lather and a very hard white soap. It works well in combination with other oils. Coconut oil gives these soap shavings strong lathering and detergent properties.

Soda crystals
A powerful degreaser, stain remover and whitener, water softener, antifungal and antibacterial, this natural cleaning product is ideal for thorough cleaning of your laundry. More aggressive than bicarbonate of soda, it works deep down to the heart of the fabric to remove limescale deposits. An ideal ingredient for optimum results in linen care. It is also one of the great multi-purpose products of modern chemistry. It is widely used in the detergent industry, but also in the metal, cellulose and glass industries.

Baking soda
Baking soda is a natural stain remover that will get rid of oil, grease, mud and food stains, etc. Whether for white or coloured laundry, baking soda gives your clothes a boost and reinforces the action of the detergent! They're brighter and whiter. It's also an excellent fabric softener and gets rid of unwanted stains. Baking soda in a washing machine will also limit limescale, which can make clothes rough. It also prevents limescale build-up in the drum.

Wood ash
Wood ash is naturally rich in basic compounds and essentially in potassium hydroxide, potash (KOH, which is actually in the form of potassium carbonate K2CO3). The wood ash used in this household soap comes from untreated, unpainted wood and is free from any glue or resin. It contains potassium and helps to deep clean, shine and absorb unpleasant odours. They have an undeniably gentle abrasive power, making this household soap suitable for a wide range of surfaces.

Bring 1.5 litres of water to the boil. Remove from the heat and pour the entire sachet into the pan. A little foam will appear (effervescence). Stir until dissolved. Leave to cool. Add 1.5 litres of cold water and stir. Bottle. Use 120 ml of detergent per machine.

With this DIY kit, there are no limits to your imagination. You can add a few drops of essential oil to perfume your detergent, or a little white vinegar to disinfect and soften your textiles.
