Clothes moths, also known as clothes moths, are tiny insects that can cause considerable damage to our clothes and fabrics. These pests are attracted to natural fibres such as wool, cotton, silk and even leather. Dark, low-traffic wardrobes and wardrobes are ideal havens for these insects. To protect your clothes from these intruders, you can take preventive action.

Our grandparents often used mothballs in their wardrobes. But this substance is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, which has been found to be carcinogenic by monitoring the illnesses of chemical industry workers. Naphthalene is therefore banned. But we know that moths avoid strong-smelling substances. Lavender, rosemary, tobacco, camphor and cedarwood make it more difficult for moths to detect woollens, and can therefore protect your clothes.

Because of its strong odour, cedar wood is used to keep clothes moths at bay. Moths can detect this smell from a distance, so it camouflages the smell of clothes and their keratin fibres, which are likely to attract them. The smell of cedar fades over time, so it's important to reactivate its scent by sanding it regularly (at least every 6 months) or applying a few drops of this essential oil to the wood.

Cedar wood has been used since ancient times as a preventive treatment against moths. Once the moths have settled in, the cedar wood will not be able to repel them or, better still, kill them. This preventive, all-natural method is ideal for the bedrooms of young children, as cedarwood (unlike naphthalene) has not yet been found to have any harmful effects on the body.
