Children's toothbrush made from bioplastic
Combining both design and ecology, this children's toothbrush offers all the features necessary for gentle brushing. Design validated by professionals: small head, flexible bristles and tilted head. 2 colors to choose from.
Children also have the right to their own ecological toothbrushes !
Instead of incinerating the remains of the wood processing industry, transforming them into thermal energy, the company Biobrush has decided to transform them into toothbrushes, with a negligible carbon footprint.
These eco-friendly toothbrushes and their packaging contain a very low percentage of fossil materials. They are 94% biodegradable.
The end result is a toothbrush that is environmentally friendly, aesthetically pleasing and designed for good oral hygiene.
What materials are they made of ?
Cellulose from the remains of the wood industry is used to make bioplastic. The handles and packaging of the toothbrushes are made from this bioplastic.
Natural softeners are added to the bioplastic. The natural pigments in the dyes are carefully selected, with heavy metal levels well below the usual thresholds. These toothbrushes do not contain bisphenol A (endocrine disruptor). Finally, the nylon bristles of the toothbrushes are made from natural castor oil. According to independent dentists, nylon remains the most hygienic material for oral care.
Biobrush uses only minimal amounts of fossil raw materials in the production of the bioplastic, the bristles and the packaging. The wood comes from sustainable forestry.
A child-friendly toothbrush
Biobrush, a toothbrush validated by dentistsBiobrush has obviously taken into account the recommendations of independent dentists, research institutes and manufacturers in order to design toothbrushes offering excellent oral hygiene.
- Ergonomics : Easy to hold by a child. It won't slip through their fingers
- Evenly cut bristles
Rounded bristles to reach the interdental spaces.
- Medium to soft bristles
According to the experts, soft bristles provide a good cleaning result while protecting the gums.
- Brush head Biobrush, an eco-friendly toothbrush for children
Efficient brushing, allowing optimal brushing of all teeth.
- Bristle tufts: multi-tufted
Tighter bristle tufts optimise the brushing result. However, the bristle tufts have spaces in between, which are essential for drying the brush and preventing the build-up of bacteria.
- Curved head
Facilitates access to the molars.
- The colour
To make brushing a real pleasure, your child will appreciate the trendy flashy design!
What happens to them at the end of their life ?
The dyes used correspond to the DIN EN13432 standard. The bioplastic is biodegradable according to DIN EN ISO 14855, but the nylon of the brush is not. The award-winning packaging is compostable.
The management of bioplastics in terms of recycling is still in its infancy. Sorting centre managers are faced with the challenge of recycling these new materials, a challenge that must also take into account economic profitability. Thermal recovery provides electricity, heat and energy for households. So you can throw your toothbrush in the household waste bin !
What if a biobrush ends up in the landscape ?
Conventional plastic can take over 400 years to decompose.
The German Federal Environment Agency stated in 2013 that even after an extremely long time (> 400 years) of continuous shredding, complete decomposition is not possible.
The bioplastic will only need a fraction of this time to decompose.
Depending on climatic conditions, 94% of the biobrush will decompose within a few years. Nylon is not yet biodegradable. As soon as an equally hair-friendly and biodegradable material is ready to be marketed, Biobrush is committed to applying it.
Environmental issues
- The use of fossil materials for the production of bioplastic, hair and packaging is reduced to a minimum. For the bioplastic, wood waste, which would normally be incinerated, is used.
- The wood comes from sustainable forestry (certificate available).
- As these toothbrushes contain only very small amounts of fossil materials, their carbon footprint at the end of their life cycle is negligible.
- The thermal energy resulting from their incineration will provide households with electricity and heating.
- biodegradable * - The colours used in these toothbrushes comply with DIN EN 13432. The bioplastic is biodegradable according to DIN EN ISO 14855 and the award-winning packaging is even compostable.
*Waste separation facilities face a serious challenge with bioplastics, as their disposal must be handled in an economically justifiable manner.
Composition

Biobrush wins the German Packaging Award in the "Sustainability" category for the packaging of the sealed pocket toothbrush made of cellulose-based bioplastic with a recycled cardboard tab. The jury of the 2016 German Packaging Award considered every detail: "The side-sealed bag made of cellulose-based bioplastic is combined with the lowest possible amount of raw material. Printing is reduced to a minimum. A sustainable concept from the packaging material to its design convinced the jury.
