Some information about Spike Lavender
Spike lavender is a shrub that grows in Spain, France and the south of England. It thrives in small mountainous areas with a Mediterranean climate, where it grows in bushes. The blue or violet flowers are fragrant and have a camphorated smell. Spike lavender has the same medicinal characteristics as true lavender (lavandula angustifolia). Yields per hectare vary greatly, from 15 to 80 kg depending on the plant, the climate, the region and the age of the plantation. The best yield of essential oil is assured when it is 4 to 6 years old.
Darker than true lavender essential oil, spike lavender has a less sweet smell. No one would think of perfuming a linen cupboard or a burnt cream with it, but its strong fragrance, due to the presence of camphor, seduces perfumers.
Antitoxic, anti-infectious and exceptionally healing, spike lavender, a precious companion for summer holidays, is indicated for "everything that stings" (insects, jellyfish, sunburn). It exterminates moths and lice and, as a remarkable fungicide, puts an end to the most rebellious mycoses (dermatological, digestive or gynaecological). It is very useful in the ENT sphere and has an effective painkilling action, particularly in cases of shingles, herpes or joint or muscle pain (arthrosis, arthritis, cramps, etc.).

100% pure and natural oil
An essential oil is made up of chemically defined molecules (about 10,000 listed) that have been secreted by special plant cells. It can consist of from one to several hundred molecules, which helps explain why some essential oils have many properties but different therapeutic effectiveness. To guarantee the properties necessary for effective aromatherapy, it is important that an essential oil is 100% pure and natural (not cut, not deterpenated, not mixed with alcohol or vegetable oils) and preferably organic. This is the case for the essential oils we sell. They are sold in tinted bottles with a dropper cap.
