Some information about the Cajeput

Originally from Southeast Asia, Cajeput comes from the word Kajou-pouti which means "white tree" in the Malay language and refers to the easily detachable white bark of this tree. The cajeputier is an aromatic tree, with pale green oval leaves and small white flowers grouped in clusters. It can reach 40 meters high.

The cajeput is part of the family of the Melaleuca, the eucalyptus, the Girofle, the Myrte, the Tea tree and the Niaouli. Powerful agent against infections, it is found in certain pharmaceutical preparations but also in soaps, detergents or cosmetics.

Cajeput essential oil is purifying, stimulating and anti-infectious. It is known for its action at the level of the respiratory tree and at the level of the skin and hair, as sanitizing and tonic active. Its therapeutic properties are close to those of the tea tree (tea tree) and niaouli. It is a very good antiseptic general. The essential oil of cajeput is typically a product of winter, one of these essential oils to fight the cold and the consequences of a cooling that must be within reach. It liquefies mucosity and promotes expectorations. Perfect for smooth cold, sinusitis and bronchitis.

It can also be of great help in the spring when pollens come in force. Chemical formula

The main constituents of the essential oil of cajeput are terpenic oxides (1.8-cineole) but also monoterphenols (alpha-terpineol, linalol) and monoterpenes (limonene, myrcene and alpha-pinene).

Asthma, urinary infections, rheumatic pain, dental neuralgia, psoriasis, acne, genital herpes, varicose veins, etc.

Therapeutic properties of Cajeput essential oil

Principal : Anticatarrhale, expectorante, antiviral, antifungal, radioprotective, astringent and tonic skin, antibacterial, venous decongestion, phlebotonic.

Secondary : Antalgic, anti-inflammatory, insecticide and insect repellent, immunomodulent.

Attention !

Cajeput essential oil can be irritating to the skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. It has high dose epileptogenic risk. Cajeput essential oil should not be used in case of asthma predisposition and its use by aerosols should be avoided. Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as children under 6 years of age.

For example, some examples of use

 

En inhalationThe essential oil of cajeput can allow promote the proper functioning of the respiratory tract and in particular facilitate breathing in case of cooling. In addition, it also allows forsoften irritated throats. Put 2 to 3 drops of essential oil of cajeput in a bowl of hot water, cover the head of a line and inhale for a few minutes.

Application par massage ou compresse It is advisable to mix a few drops of essential oil with a vegetable oil(soft almond, jojoba, macadamia, musk rose, argan, olive, etc) to use it as massage oil.You will use the essential oil of cajeput in localized massage in case of skin problems and disgraceful marks (varices, ...). To do this, mix 20 to 30 drops of cajeput in 100ml of vegetable oil. Apply to the area concerned for 15 minutes using a humidified hot compress.

The essential oil of cajeput will also be perfect in massage for facilitate breathing and soften the throat in case of cooling. For this, 20 to 30 dilute drops in 100 ml of vegetable oil and chest and back massage.
