Yield : 1.5% to 2%. It takes 100 kg of plant to obtain 1.5 l to 2 l of essential oil of Wintergreen. 

Wintergreen essential oil Wintergreen is a small, aromatic bush native to North America. It is also cultivated in certain Chinese provinces. Due to its predominantly methyl salicylate composition, Wintergreen has anti-inflammatory and anti-analgesic properties, similar to those of aspirin. Light yellow in colour and aromatic in scent, the essential oil of Wintergreen is often used to flavour sweets. The very recognisable smell is often reminiscent of the massage creams used by sportsmen.

This oil can be used exclusively for massage and is a remarkable analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. Its well-known smell is reminiscent of the balm used by sportsmen. Its high level of methyl salicate (over 95%) gives it its properties, which are much appreciated by sportsmen. You can use it alone, mixed with a vegetable oil like Macadamia, before, during or after exercise. But you can also mix it with the essential oil of Rom.

*The chemotype is the identity card of the essential oil, its chemical composition defined by chromatographic analysis. The same plant can have several compositions depending on the place and the variety. A chemotype depends on a property, an odour and a taste.

The essential oil of Gaultheria procumbens is composed of more than 95% methyl salicylate. This gives it powerful analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties for the skin. It is thus one of the rare essential oils that is almost monomolecular.
