Some information about the bergamot

The bergamot tree is 4 to 5 metres high. It was discovered by Christopher Columbus on the Canary Islands and introduced in Italy, now the largest producer. The essential oil has a more or less dark yellow-green colour and a characteristic fresh and fruity aroma. Its fragrance, irresistible with citrus and floral scents, combines wonderfully with cypress, geranium, lavender, lemon and ylang-ylang. Its scent is fresh, floral and lemony. In the mouth, it leaves a tangy and sweet taste. The oil is expensive because of its low yield. It is widely used in perfumery (eau de Cologne) and as a flavouring for teas (Earl Grey tea for example). It is also found in certain confectionery products, such as Nancy bergamots.

The antiviral properties of Bergamot oil allow it to be used in the treatment of all viral or bacterial infections. It is highly effective in atmospheric diffusion.

Chemotype*

Linalol, lemonene, linalyle acetate
*The chemotype is the identity card of the essential oil, its chemical composition defined by chromatographic analysis. The same plant can have several compositions depending on the place and the variety. A chemotype depends on a property, an odour and a taste.

100% pure and natural oil

An essential oil is made up of chemically defined molecules (about 10,000 listed) that have been secreted by special plant cells. It can consist of from one to several hundred molecules, which helps explain why some essential oils have many properties but different therapeutic effectiveness. To guarantee the properties necessary for effective aromatherapy, it is important that an essential oil is 100% pure and natural (not cut, not deterpenated, not mixed with alcohol or vegetable oils) and preferably organic. This is the case for the essential oils we sell. They are sold in tinted bottles with a dropper cap.
