A ferrite magnet is inserted into the ring, generating a magnetic field. This field momentarily modifies the structure of the limestone crystals dissolved in the water (transformation into discoid crystals). This modification reduces the tendency of limescale to adhere to surfaces, including inside the toilet cistern. The result is a reduction in limescale deposits in the toilet cistern.

The presence of limescale in the toilet cistern is mainly due to the quality of the water used to supply your home. When water flows through soil and underground rocks, it can dissolve minerals, including calcium carbonate. This calcium carbonate then finds its way into the tap water, and when it fills the toilet cistern, limescale deposits form over time. This is a common phenomenon in regions where the water is hard, meaning that it contains a high concentration of minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

Limescale deposits mainly in the form of scale, which can lead to a number of problems in the toilet. Limescale deposits can clog valves and internal tank mechanisms, which can reduce flushing efficiency and lead to leaks. What's more, limescale can cause unsightly stains inside the tank and on the toilet bowl.
