Founded in 1995 by Dr. Heitz, a veterinarian, the company is located in France, in the Jura part of the "Plastic Valley".

To accomplish their mission, 4 values guide them :

- Usefulness : Their products must provide effective solutions to their customers' problems.

- Simplicity : The shortest path between two points is a straight line. All their products are simple and designed to be easy to use.

History

1994

Denis HEITZ, a veterinary surgeon practising in Oyonnax (France), was faced with the problem of removing ticks from his four-legged patients. Among the instruments then available on the market, none is really satisfactory. He makes his own tool, the TICK TWISTER® hook, from a simple nail.

1995

After a year of prototype tests, D. HEITZ determines the final characteristics of the product and registers a patent. A sole proprietorship was created by his wife Hélène, and was called H3D. Benefiting from the proximity of the plastics industry, an injection mould was quickly made by a local manufacturer, and the first O'TOM hooks came out of the injection presses of a factory in Oyonnax, in the Plastic Valley. Marketing began in October 1995. At this stage, the small company's workforce consists of Hélène and Denis HEITZ, assisted by two home workers for the packaging of the products.

1996

First export prospecting: H3D approaches Switzerland and Germany. Extension of the patent to foreign countries.

1999

The family home, which had previously been used as the company's premises, became too small to support the expansion of sales. Expansion work is carried out and a sales office and storage room are added to the house.

2000

Faced with the extent of the development, Denis Heitz had to make a choice: he separated from his veterinary practice and devoted himself, with his wife, entirely to the development of H3D.

2001

Start of the partnership with an export consultant and launch of the TICK TWISTER® hook in Scandinavia.

2004

Evolution towards a more adapted company status : from a simple individual company, H3D becomes a Simplified Joint Stock Company (SAS).

2005

Diversification of the offer: the packaging is adapted to each distribution channel. A sales assistant joins the team, and the cramped premises are once again felt.

2007

The company moves to a new 350 m² building in Lavancia. An additional sales representative is hired to develop export sales, which now cover more than 25 countries.

2008

Launch of the Smartick® hook, which expands the range to meet the most diverse demands.

2010

H3D expands its expertise in the field of hygiene and animal care, with a new product:  BambooStick® is a giant wadded stick specially adapted to clean dogs' ears.

2011

Launch of the BambooStick® XL cotton swab at vets in France and Europe.

2012

At the request of customers, H3D launches a complete care kit for dogs' ears consisting of a cleaning lotion and a bag of BambooStick® cotton buds.

2015

The BambooStick® range is extended with the arrival of the S/M size cotton buds and new packaging adapted to sales to individuals and professionals.

july 2015

The video of the TICK TWISTER® hook is posted on the Facebook page "Great Outdoors". In a few hours it goes around the world... over 40 million views, 800,000 shares and 25,000 comments. The TICK TWISTER® hook becomes the #1 Best-Seller in the "Dog Flea & Tick Control" category on Amazon US.

2016

Launch of the new TICK TWISTER® website. A more modern design, new colours and now the possibility for internet users to buy TICK TWISTER® pullers in pink, purple, blue, green and orange ...

2018

Launch of a transport box for hooks: the Clipbox! Clipbox for your belt or backpack to always have your hooks within reach. Available in 5 colours, matching the hooks.

2020

In order to improve our offer, we are launching the TICK TWISTER® Human Set which no longer contains 2 but 3 hooks. The addition of 1 "micro" hook makes it possible to remove even smaller ticks. This set is sold with a small reusable thermoformed box, ideal for storing your tick removers. 10 colours available.

Why is this anti-tick solution so popular ?

The Tick Twister® hook :

- does not leave the tick's head in the skin

- does not compress the tick

- suitable for all sizes of ticks

- removes ticks from animals and humans

- does not require the use of ether or alcohol

- removes the tick quickly and painlessly

- is unbreakable, durable and can be reused indefinitely

Tick Twister® does not leave the tick's head in the skin

The rostrum of a tick (the part of the tick that is stuck in the skin, incorrectly called the "tick head") is bristling with small spikes that allow the tick to stay attached.

When the tick is pulled, these spikes anchor and lock the "tick head" into the skin. Pulling can cause the rostrum to break off and remain partly or completely in the skin, which can lead to painful inflammation or infection.

When the tick is turned, the tips of the rostrum are folded back along the axis of rotation, and the tick is removed easily, without any pulling effort, and thus limiting the risk of breaking the "tick's head".

Tick Twister® does not compress the tick

When removing a tick, it is essential not to compress it during removal, to reduce the risk of saliva regurgitation.

Indeed, the tick's saliva contains several irritating substances and sometimes micro-organisms that can cause infections and/or allergies.
