The benefits of organic plant oils for radiant skin

Organic plant oils have become an essential part of natural beauty routines, and rightly so! Grown in an environmentally-friendly way, these precious oils offer a multitude of benefits for the skin, from deep hydration to protection against external aggressors. Don't hesitate to immerse yourself in this sensory experience and discover the many benefits that vegetable oils can bring to your natural skincare routine.

The power of natural ingredients

Unlike conventional beauty products, which often contain synthetic and potentially harmful ingredients, organic vegetable oils are purely natural. They are extracted from seeds, fruits or nuts, and their production method guarantees that they contain no pesticides, GMOs or chemicals. This purity makes organic vegetable oils an ideal choice for those looking for gentle, health-friendly skincare solutions.

In-depth hydration

Hydration is essential for healthy, radiant skin. Organic plant oils are rich in essential fatty acids, such as omegas 3, 6 and 9, which help to keep the skin hydrated by forming a protective barrier. By penetrating deep into the epidermis, they nourish and soften the skin, restoring its suppleness and elasticity.

A cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants

Organic vegetable oils are packed with vitamins and antioxidants that are good for the skin. Vitamin E, for example, helps combat the free radicals responsible for premature skin ageing, while vitamin A promotes cell renewal. These nutrients stimulate skin regeneration and help reduce the signs of ageing, such as fine lines and age spots.

Properties for every skin type

Whatever your skin type, there's an organic plant oil to suit your specific needs. Dry skin will appreciate sweet almond oil or avocado oil for their richness in nourishing fatty acids. Oily skin will love jojoba oil, which regulates sebum without clogging pores. Sensitive skin will benefit from the soothing properties of calendula oil or chamomile oil.

Versatile use

Organic plant oils are versatile and can be incorporated into various stages of your beauty routine. Used as a moisturiser, a natural make-up remover, a massage oil or even a hair mask, they offer a multitude of possibilities for caring for your body in a natural and environmentally-friendly way.

Organic vegetable oils are a veritable treasure trove of nature, offering a healthy and effective alternative to conventional beauty products. Their moisturising, nourishing and regenerating properties make them an ideal ally for naturally radiant skin. Don't hesitate to include these botanical gems in your beauty routine to take full advantage of their exceptional benefits.

Presentation of castor oil

Castor seeds and flowers

Castor oil has been used for thousands of years for its "magical" properties, particularly by the Egyptians, who used it mainly on their skin. It is said that it was Cleopatra's favourite oil, who used it daily to remove her make-up.

Organic castor oil softens and repairs delicate skin prone to discomfort thanks to its high fatty acid content. The ricinoleic acid it contains is one of the keys to its success.

It is one of the omega-9 fatty acids. It will strengthen the hydrolipic film (natural barrier) of your skin. Castor oil also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, allowing it to soothe the discomfort of dry to very dry skin. It also facilitates skin repair and accelerates the healing process.

This ricinoleic acid is also known to be an agent that inhibits the growth of microbes, which gives castor oil an advantage in purifying skin care.

It will also act very effectively on the hair. With a very viscous texture, this fatty acid sheathes the hair, nourishes it and thus strengthens the hair fibre.  Moreover, the presence of vitamin E in its composition will protect the hair from external aggressions, repair it and stimulate its growth. It also promotes the microcirculation of the scalp, and thus stimulates the supply of nutrients to the hair bulb. In short, a miraculous vegetable oil for the health of your hair! It is also a well-known oil in veterinary care, particularly for growing and thickening horses' manes.

The ricinoleic acid and omegas 6 and 9 contained in this oil will also help nourish the nails in depth : they are thicker and shinier, less brittle and soft, and the cuticles are more supple and easier to grow back. Even if castor oil leaves a slightly greasy effect, it will completely re-hydrate your nails.

The action of castor oil on eyelashes and eyebrows results from the same phenomenon as on the hair! This oil will strengthen the hair and stimulate growth by providing nutrients and stimulating the bulbs. Thus, it strengthens the eyelashes and eyebrows, densifies them and stimulates growth to fill in the gaps.

Finally, the ricinoleic acid present in large quantities in castor oil gives it powerful laxative properties. It alters the intestinal mucous membrane, which can cause significant losses of water and trace elements. It should therefore be used orally under medical prescription. Too high a dosage can be dangerous.

Focus on castor oil

Castor oil

Botanical name : Ricinus communis. from organic farming
An ornamental plant in our regions, the castor bean can grow to around ten metres in tropical and subtropical regions. Its characteristic fruit is covered with green or red prickles, depending on maturity. As it ripens, the shell dries and opens, revealing three oil-rich seeds. When cold-pressed, these seeds become a rather fatty and viscous liquid: castor oil (also known as "Castor oil"). Castor beans contain a poison, ricin, from which the oil is removed by simple filtering. This oil has long been used as a lubricant for engines, including aircraft engines. But this vegetable oil owes its cosmetic properties to its exceptional composition. Castor oil is very rich in vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acids (85% to 88% ricinoleic acid, 3% to 4% omega 9) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (5% to 6% omega 6).

Advantages of castor oil

+ Very rich in ricinoleic acid

+ Very nourishing, strengthening, softening and repairing

+ Perfect for hair, lashes, nails and dry to very dry skin

+ Stimulates the immune system

+ Ideal for cold process soaps (gives a light and dense foam)

+ Calms skin inflammation and relieves pain (such as arthritis and osteoarthritis)

+ Helps fade skin blemishes (brown spots, scars, pregnancy mask)

+ Purifies the skin: anti-infectious and antifungal

Castor oil : which skin types ?

Castor oil offers its full potential on dry, sensitive, irritated, mature, stained or problematic skin. It penetrates well despite its exceptional density and viscosity. It responds effectively to a variety of skin problems, from severe dryness to inflammatory acne.

Where castor oil is particularly interesting is when used on nails and eyelashes! The ricinoleic acid it contains is ideal for repairing and strengthening brittle or split nails. It also promotes the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows.

And for the hair ?

Castor oil is the queen of hair care. Ricinoleic acid allows the hair to be sheathed and nourished, thus strengthening the hair fibre. Hair that has been damaged and abused by perming or bleaching will thank you! In addition, the vitamin E contained in this oil offers excellent antioxidant properties that will protect the hair from external aggression, repair it and stimulate its growth. However, be careful not to overuse it, as this vegetable oil is greasy and your scalp could quickly get used to it !

Formerly present in our grandmothers' lipsticks, castor oil is now replaced by other oils, often mineral, but which go rancid less quickly.

Examples of uses of castor vegetable oil

To fade skin spots
Castor oil is reputed to be effective against brown spots on the face and hands. In a bottle, mix 25 ml of castor oil, 25 ml of macadamia oil, 10 drops of lemon essential oil, 10 drops of carrot essential oil and 5 drops of vitamin E. Use 1 to 2 drops in the evening on a clean and dry face, avoiding the eye area or hands.

Against soft and brittle nails
Ricinoleic acid and its omegas 6 and 9 nourish the nails in depth. They are thicker and shinier, less brittle and soft, and the cuticles are more supple and easier to grow back. Apply 1 to 2 drops of castor oil to each nail, then massage until it is absorbed. Repeat 2 to 3 times a week for best results.

For extremely shiny hair

Castor oil strengthens and helps your hair to grow, making it stronger and thicker. Nourishing, this oil restores shine to damaged or coloured hair. In a bottle, mix 70 ml of olive vegetable oil, 30 ml of castor oil, 10 drops of lemon essential oil, 10 drops of ylang ylang essential oil and 10 drops of vitamin E. Apply to the entire length of the hair, avoiding overloading the scalp. Leave on for at least 30 minutes, ideally under a warm towel. Then shampoo gently.

For shiny lips
To make your lips shiny : Either fill a roll-on with castor oil or apply directly with a brush.

Against hair loss
The vitamin E contained in this oil will promote the microcirculation of the scalp, and thus stimulate the supply of nutrients to the hair bulb. In addition, the fatty acids it contains will provide undeniable anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that will clean the scalp. Apply a hair mask to dry, untangled hair, applying the necessary amount. Insist on the ends, and gently massage the scalp. Leave on for at least an hour, or overnight, then shampoo. Very viscous, castor oil can be diluted in another vegetable oil (depending on the type of hair) at 50% for example.

Against dry and damaged skin
Thanks to its emollient and softening properties, castor oil will strengthen the skin's natural barrier. It also facilitates skin repair and accelerates the healing process. A recommended vegetable oil when the skin is dry or damaged. Apply a few drops of castor oil to dry and damaged areas of the skin. Dilute preferably 50% in another vegetable oil.
