Natural repellents based on powerful ingredients : an effective defence against insects in our homes

Le lézard des murailles

In some regions, lizards, margouillats, geckos... can be very invasive. They invade facades, terraces, swimming pool surrounds, rock gardens, garages, house interiors, etc. and soil surfaces.  

Indeed, beyond the fear that some people have of these small reptiles, they have an annoying tendency to soil the surfaces on which they move. Walls, terraces, light fittings, objects of all kinds... This can even become an everyday struggle.

ALT'O LEZARDS has been developed to combat the nuisance caused by lizards, margouillats and geckos inside the house and outside (balcony, terrace). Composed of geraniol, an active ingredient of plant origin, it acts by olfactory action on small reptiles to effectively repel them from the areas to be protected. This natural repellent diffuses an unpleasant odour for small reptiles and encourages them to move away spontaneously (acts on the reptiles' sensory receptors).

In the form of a ready-to-use spray, ALT'O LEZARDS is applied to places where reptiles pass. It does not stain surfaces. Please note that this product is not designed to be sprayed directly onto the animal.

It is very easy to use. On a clean surface, spray the product evenly with 3 to 7 strokes of the trigger in places frequented by lizards (air conditioners, near light sources, etc.) and in places where they pass (door and window frames).

Geraniol : Geraniol is obtained by fractional distillation from the Cympobogon Winterianus Jowitt plant by extracting all impurities without any chemical means. It belongs to the family of monoterpene alcohols. Geraniol is a colourless liquid with a pleasant rose odour. Geraniol is naturally present in many fruits, vegetables, spices and essential oils. Thanks to its floral scent and special properties, geraniol is used in many fields of application (cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, detergents) and in particular as an anti-insect solution. It is also an excellent larvicide and ovicide. It acts at all stages of metamorphosis (egg, larva, adult) by suffocation and dehydration by acting on the chitin. It is often found in insecticide or repellent products to reinforce their action. In addition, its odour irritates small reptiles by acting on their sensory receptors. This substance is effective over a wide spectrum.

How to use it

Shake well before use. Test beforehand on a hidden surface as some fragile materials may be stained. On a clean surface, spray the product evenly with 3 to 7 strokes of the trigger in places frequented by lizards (air conditioners, near light sources, etc.) and in places where they pass (door and window frames). Allow to dry. On porous surfaces (paving, screens, etc.) and/or as soon as the lizards return, repeat the operation two or three times, respecting a period of 12 hours between two treatments.

0.01% (m/m) Geraniol (CAS N°106.24-1) - Biocide product for general public use. Repellent (TP19) - Ready to use liquid.

Predators of lizards

The predators of lizards are cats, for whom they are real toys! But hedgehogs and birds also enjoy them. If its agility allows it to escape its predators, the wall lizard can live for 4 to 6 years.

The benefits of lizards

In the garden as well as at home, the lizard is an interesting little helper because it will get rid of various animals for food: spiders, caterpillars, crickets, locusts, grasshoppers but also earthworms, aphids, flies and other insects. If lizards and other geckos do not bother you in your daily life and do not cause any particular damage, it is better to leave them in peace !

More about lizards

Lizards have their origins in the primitive reptiles observed at the beginning of the Permian era, 340 million years ago.  In other words, they were around long before us! Lizards exist on almost every continent on the planet, except in the polar regions. 

The wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) is the most commonly found in France and Europe. From the Lacertidae family, this climbing species that likes to hang around houses should not be confused with the Geckos or mabouyas of the West Indies and Africa (also called Margouillats on Reunion Island) which are found in the interiors of houses. Depending on the region of France, it is known by different names: rapiette, langrotte, larmuze, larmeuse, lagremuze, larmouise... 

The wall lizard measures around 20 cm long maximum, including the tail. It has four legs with long toes at the end to hold on to when climbing vertically. Its colour varies according to the specimen: its scaly body can be grey, brown, greenish, more or less striated, allowing it to be confused with the stones on which it often walks. Its skin sheds in successive patches which it eats. Its belly is lighter. It is very shy, extremely fast and therefore very difficult to catch. You will not see them (or only a few) during the winter because they hibernate and sleep a lot. This cold-blooded animal loves sunbathing. It is therefore very common to see it on the outside walls of houses, dry stone walls, rocks, rock gardens, etc.

The Gecko, a small lizard with shimmering eyes and a very distinctive sound, is very common inside houses, in cupboards, in vases, on walls, in short, everywhere. They have adhesive fingers that allow them to climb on any surface (even glass, which is supposed to be perfectly smooth). They are part of a large group of lizards found in all the warm regions of the world. It is quite common to see it on the ceiling in the evening, near a light source attracting insects of all kinds and sounding the dinner hour.

Did you know ?

In most lizards, a very surprising phenomenon can be observed: When confronted with a predator, the reptile cuts off its own tail instead of losing its life. This is called caudal autonomy. This organ sacrifice is made possible by the presence of cracks in certain vertebrae. After being detached, the tail continues to wag on the ground. The predator, captivated by this movement, forgets about the other piece of its prey: the lizard takes advantage of this to flee, while limiting the damage thanks to blood vessels equipped with contractile sphincters that prevent blood loss. Its tail is then rebuilt, not without difficulty for the little animal, but it will have saved its skin !

Do not apply directly to animals. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Keep only in the original packaging. Do not reuse empty packaging. Keep away from food and drink, including animal feed. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not ingest. Do not dispose of residues in drains or waterways. Dispose of empty packaging at waste disposal centres.

Fonctionne bien

Les lézards adorent venir sur mes transats en bois mais moi j'aime pas trop les voir là ! J'en mets au bord de la terasse et j'en vois plus sur les transats. Donc ça marche bien. Mais s'il pleut, faut en remettre normal.

Nous sommes vraiment désolés que notre produit n'ai pas fonctionné chez vous. Mais nous sommes aussi un peu surpris que vous insistiez plusieurs années (cette formulation n'existant que depuis août 2020 - donc 4 saisons) alors que le produit, à priori ne fonctionnerait pas depuis votre tout premier achat ...

Bonjour Cr,
Nous sommes désolés que le produit ne fasse pas fuir les lézards présents chez vous. Il faut parfois étudier un peu la configuration du lieu et en fonction du matériau sur lequel vous pulvériser notre produit, il peut être nécessaire d'appliquer plus (1 seul pulvérisation est trop juste) ou plus souvent. Les matériaux poreux par exemple vont un peu "boire" le produit et donc amoindrir le côté répulsif du géraniol.
Notre produit a été utilisé par des particuliers et des professionnels avec des retours très positifs mais parfois il faut s'adapter au contexte, le produit magique n'existant pas.

J’aurais bien aimé que ça fonctionne mais les lézards reviennent camper au même endroit 10 minutes après la pulvérisation :-(

J’ai essayé ce produit et les margouillats ont disparus par contre les lézards sont toujours là
Les produits pour les moustiques ont été très efficaces et aussi pour les rongeurs

Efficace

j'en ai mis autour du salon de jardin sur notre terrasse. Les lézards se baladent sous la terrasse mais ne viennent plus sur notre salon. Donc je suis satisfaite du produit car je ne veux pas les tuer juste les empêcher de venir sur mon salon de jardin.. Par contre, si je veux être tranquille, il faut que j'en remette souvent surtout qu'il fait très chaud en ce moment. Et le produit sent bon pour nous alors ça ne nous dérange pas.

anti lézard

Belle découverte. Ma femme a une peur bleue des lézards. Elle peut revenir désormais sur la terrasse sans sursauter à chaque fois qu'elle en voit. Livré très vite.

Merci d'avoir pris le temps de laisser votre commentaire. Nous sommes vraiment navrés que votre expérience avec notre produit n'ait pas répondu à vos attentes. Cependant notre produit Alt'O Lézards n'a pas pour fonction de supprimer les lézards mais seulement de les repousser des zones où vous ne voulez pas les voir.
Pensez bien à agiter le flacon avant d'appliquer le produit et à refaire une 2ème application 12h après la 1ère en cas de forte chaleur et/ou de matériaux poreux (pierres naturelles par exemple).

Même si la composition de ce produit ne présente pas de risque majeur pour les animaux de compagnie, il reste déconseillé qu'ils puissent en ingérer. Les recommandations précisent d'ailleurs qu'il doit être tenu à l'écart des aliments et boissons, y compris ceux des animaux. Le produit devra donc être appliqué sur des surfaces ou vos animaux ne pourront lécher le produit ou à défaut sous votre surveillance. Merci pour votre compréhension.

Doute sur le produit

Est-ce dangereux pour les animaux?, chien, chat... J'habite dans un appartement avec balcon et tous les étés des lézards m'envahissent, j'ai un chien qui se promène sur le balcon et je ne veux pas que ce produit lui cause un problème de santé.

Cependant notre produit Alt'O Lézards n'a pas pour fonction de supprimer les lézards mais seulement de les repousser. S'ils sont plus nombreux, c'est qu'ils ont dû trouver dans votre environnement les conditions favorables pour se reproduire.

Super!

Des lézards plein la maison,il y a 4 ans,et jusqu'en Novembre!... C'est une phobie pour moi... Aucun produit à l'époque... Ils ont disparu durant 3 ou 4 saisons... et là,j,en ai revu un gros devant ma porte-fenêtre... a savoir que si la femelle pond tout près de chez vous,vous allez vite être infestés!...Je suis retournée sur internet,je suis tombée sur ce site. J'ai été livrée très rapidement... Et,miracle une application hier,une autre 12 h après,et le lézard qui me narguait a disparu!!! Pourvu que ça dure! Je vous tiendrai au courant!... Je croise les doigts!

pourquoi ne proposez vous pas des recharges de 1 litres ou plus? Cela ferait moins d'emballage (écologie) et diminuerait le coût pour le client.

phobique de ces bêtes, j'en ai appliqué sur le muret bas de ma terrasse. Fonctionne plutôt bien. Renouvellez par contre dès qu'il fait chaud, sinon le produit ne marche plus

Bonjour Laurence,
Désolé que ce produit ne vous convienne pas. Nous avons pourtant de bons retours sur l'efficacité de ce dernier. Il est important de bien agiter le flacon avant pulvérisation pour que les actifs soient bien mélangés et se répartissent correctement sur les surfaces traitées. N'oubliez pas également de réintérer le traitement quelques heures après le 1er, surtout si les surfaces traitées sont exposées au soleil. Attention aussi, il s'agit d'un produit à action insectifuge à utiliser comme barrière. Les lézards, margouillats ou geckos n'osent pas franchir la surface que vous avez pulvérisée. Ainsi, vous les gardez à distance.

les lezards me regardent en se marrant!
aucune efficacité je l'ai même pulvérisé sous le nez d un lezard pour voir! et bien il est resté là ou il était!

Moyennement efficace

Utilisé en extérieur (en Guadeloupe) pour éloigner les geckos. J'ai fait le tour de la terrasse afin de faire une barrière. J'en ai eu moins. 2eme barrière 2 jours après.... mais retour rapide des geckos !
En intérieur idem. Un insecticide classique est aussi efficace.
Par contre, très bon contact / rapide et compréhensif.

Les lézards se faufilant sous notre abri de piscine , j'en ai aspergé là où ils y rentrent mais le produit ne les a pas repoussé.
Donc produit inefficace.
