Contrary to popular belief, moths (butterflies) do not directly damage textiles. They lay their eggs close to them and it is their larvae that cause the damage.

The operation of this trap without insecticide is very simple: it uses the very fine sense of smell of insects to attract them to a sticky surface.

The pheromone (hormone secreted by the female) incorporated into the glue spreads in the atmosphere and inevitably attracts male moths. They then remain glued to the sticky strip. Without a male, reproduction is stopped. It's as simple as that ! This principle is widely used in organic farming for the protection of orchards against butterflies which cause worms in fruit.

This bag contains 2 traps. These traps can be used glued directly to the places concerned using the adhesive fastener on the back or in the clothes moth trap box (not supplied - see here). The trap is activated as soon as the protective film has been removed.

The amount of moths trapped allows you to gauge the degree of infestation.

This trap includes additional useful information on avoiding moths in textiles, and how to make the trap as effective as possible. You can thus use it to protect your carpets also attacked by moths, whose larvae dig tunnels inside.

This bag includes 2 surveillance trap refills each comprising a sticky strip with incorporated pheromone.

1 - Remove the sticky strip from its packaging and remove its protective film at once. Glue the trap directly to the places concerned using the adhesive fastener on the back.

2 - If you want to use this refill in the Aries cardboard box : first remove the protective film from the thin sticky strip (on the back). This small strip will allow the tape to stick to the box. Then push the strip (now activated) carefully into the housing (glued surface with incorporated bait upwards open and adhesive side downwards closed). Secure the strip by light pressure on its non-glued ends. Close the lower part of the case. Slide the suspension hook into the slot of the tab of the housing up to the notches. Close the box.

Check textiles that are rarely used and handled, as well as their storage locations (moths hidden in the heart of several layers of fabric are more difficult to attract by the bait), shake textiles regularly (moths lay their eggs without attaching them).

Fit the windows with mosquito nets to prevent intrusions from outside the house.

Additional protection consists of installing Aries Textile Moth repellent diffuser hooks and treating wooden furniture (unvarnished) with Aries Textile Moth oil and textiles using the Aries Textile Moth Sprays. Try to detect the source of infestation (natural fiber coating, cracks, crevices, etc.) in order to destroy it with All Insects Pistal insecticide.

Finally, in the event of an infestation of clothes moths, wash the linen at 60°C in the machine. Place delicates in a bag in the freezer for 3 days before washing.

The textile moth (Tineola biselliela) reaches a size of 4 to 9 mm for a wingspan of about 4 mm. Its fore wings are golden yellow, its hind wings a satin greyish white. Females lay 100 to 200 eggs deposited directly on textiles in small groups or singly.

The larvae hatch 2 weeks later and reach adult size within 3 months. From 3 to 4 generations can develop per year indoors, in a heated environment and about 2 generations in an unheated environment. The whitish larvae of the textile moth weave tunnels in textiles that can reach a length of 15 cm. This cont the larvae of the textile moth which destroy woollens, furs, skins, stuffed animals, carpets, etc. They attack in particular textiles that are rarely used or handled because they can nest there in peace. Moths are photophobic, it is mainly the males that fly because the females are weighed down by the eggs. They die as soon as they are laid.

NCP (Nature Care Product). The NCP standard was created in 2015 to fill the regulatory gap in the non-food category and provide essential benchmarks for “ecological natural products”. This standard more specifically covers detergents and cleaning products, textile and leather care products. Its starting point are the EC834/2007 and 889/2008 regulations on products from organic farming.
