Earth of diatomy – Kieselguhr Cetom - Crawling insects – Penntybio
Diatomaceous earth (also called Kieselguhr Celatom) is a completely ecological and natural insecticide that helps fight against insects and mainly crawlers such as cockroaches, silverfish, ants, bed bugs, fleas, woodlice, spider webs, centipedes , beetle, earwigs, red louse... Available in 150 g, 300 g, 1 kg and 2 kg.
Diatomaceous earth is a sedimentary rock composed of fossils of microscopic marine algae that are very sharp. This earth (powder) is extracted from quarries.
Ourdiatomaceous earth is composed ofUncalcined inert natural diatomites (amorphous silicas), thermally stable, non-toxic, usable in agriculture, animal feed, soil conditioners, as vectors, functional ingredients anti mottant or active insecticides.
This diatomaceous earth is a natural insecticide that kills insects and slugs by dehydration, damaging their skeletons by absorbing the protective waxes.
It is anaturally pure diatomaceous earth - its light color is very different from the very dark colors (presence of impurities) of the diatomaceous earths essentially coming from India or China It does not undergo any treatment or addition.
It can be used in gardens, houses, vegetable gardens, barns, stables, livestock boxes, it reduces odors, humidity, fly infestation by killing the larvae. In dry shampoo, by sprinkling on the coat of the animals, allows to fight against fleas and ticks. This diatomaceous earth is non-toxic to vertebrates.
And its fields of application are numerous and are not limited to an anti-insect action. Diatomaceous earth has a strong absorbent power (up to 150% of its weight). It will be ideal to absorb moisture or any liquid (animal litter, stains on fabrics, urine, etc.). Its absorption capacities will allow it to eliminate certain odors. Having a very fine and abrasive structure, it will also be useful to you to make shine without scratching copper, stainless steel or silverware (with a micro-fibre cloth impregnated with vinegar and Diatomaceous Earth, you rub the object to be polished, the result is fast and perfect!)
How does diatomaceous earth work on insects ?
Ingestion of this product by the insects causes lesions of the digestive tract, while the fixation on the body of the insect causes death by dehydration.
+ Natural and clean product, respectful of the environment
+ Contains no toxic or harmful chemicals
+Total absence of organic pollutants and heavy metals
+ Insects do not adapt to diatomaceous earth
+ Safe for humans, pets and plants
+ Complete absence of odor
+ Can be used as a maintenance product (absorbent, deodorant, cleaner)
Some technical detailson this diatomaceous earth
Our diatomaceous earth comes from Europe's richest marine quarries in silica (90%) which represents 20% of the world's resources. The Celatom grades of which it is composed are the purest and most consistent on the market.
They offer the largest surface area of 25 to 70 m²/g compared to conventional fillers such as talc, kaolin, perlite. The porosity of Celatom is 100 to 1000 times higher than that of calcined clays and zeolites.
Areas of application of this diatomaceous earth
1 - Dogs, cats, small animals and birds
Diatomaceous earth acts very effectively as a drying agent against fleas and more generally against all insects with cuticles. Dries and reduces the odors of litter and urine.
2 - Chickens and backyards
Diatomaceous earth will act for a long time in prevention of red lice and grey lice raging in the low yard of leisure. Sprinkle generously at the first use, then regularly at each change of litter. With a strong absorption capacity, it also acts as a desiccant, drying and thus sanitizing the litter, preventing foot scab. Increased meat weight and egg size due to the high level of natural silica.
3 - Horses and ponies
Safe for the horse. Mechanical action, without chemical action. Also absorbs mycotoxins. Carry out curative "treatments" of one month, each season.
4 - Domestic use
As an insect repellent:Thanks to its drying, dehydrating and injuring power, diatomaceous earth is effective against crawling insects. Spiders, cockroaches, floor fleas, bed bugs, and augusts will not live long once they come into contact with this powder. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth in places where insects pass through or where pets frequent. Repeat the operation regularly and make sure there is no humidity.
To deodorize : Its strong absorbent power allows it to capture odors and humidity in a house. You can also put a little in the vacuum cleaner bag. In addition to capturing odors, it will be effective in killing fleas or mites that you may have caught!
To clean : Thanks to its very fine and abrasive structure, Diatomaceous Earth cleans stainless steel, copper, pewter and silverware without scratching or shining. Surfaces impregnated with this powder are quickly dried and cleaned.
5 - In the garden
You can also use diatomaceous earth in the vegetable garden against slugs for example. Simply sprinkle the diatomaceous earth around the plants to be protected. Be careful however to renew systematically after each rain or dew. It is also used to destroy boxwood moth caterpillars and all other insects considered harmful to your crops. Be careful not to use it during the flowering period to preserve bees and foragers in general.
6 - Anti UV coating - Protection of vegetables and market gardening
Spraying aqueous suspensions of diatomaceous earth coats the fruit and protects it from UV damage. Do not spray on flowers (dosage = 60 to 90%).
7 - Preservation of seeds in silos and during transport
Insecticidal action while absorbing excess moisture without danger to humans or animals, without changing the taste or smell of food (dosage = 2%)
8 - Animal feed
GMP+ certified food grade. Known as E551c additive. Naturally contains many trace elements such as iron, calcium and magnesium that are beneficial to animal health. Beautifies the coat and improves the condition of the hooves. Reduces the overall stress of animals. Diatomaceous earth can be ingested without risk and will even have a vermifuge action by filtering intestinal debris (recommended dosage = 2%).
9 - Soil amendments
Diatomaceous earth provides permanent soil maintenance by aerating soils, reducing irrigation by retaining water and moisture, and improving the health and vigor of plant roots. Diatomaceous earth is commonly used in lawns, gardens, potting soil, and landscaping areas
Mixed with the surface soil, diatomaceous earth provides better resistance to water stress, absorbs excess water and gradually releases it. It aerates the soil and helps the root development of plants.
It also favors the cationic exchanges necessary for the plant to absorb phosphorus, potassium and potash.

How to use diatomaceous earth ?
Spread a small amount of powder (about 20 grs/m²) in the areas where insects pass, such as behind closets, in cracks, under the bathtub, baseboards, bottom of doors, in corners, cracks, crevices ... From the moment the insect comes into contact with this powder, the drying, dehydrating and injuring properties will start to work, condemning it in the following hours.
Even if white diatomaceous earth is more efficient for this use (it dissolves better than grey diatomaceous earth), it can also be used as a spray for the treatment of house plants (10 grs of diatomaceous earth for 1 liter of water, shake well, then spray).
By diluting it in water (300 to 500 grs of powder to 1 liter of lukewarm water), you can also treat vertical surfaces, walls, cage elements, etc... mix well to obtain a fluid consistency without lumps. Once the water has evaporated, the product becomes active after drying.
Duration of action:
Totally inert, its life span is unlimited. But to be effective, the powder must remain dry and not covered with dust.
Its composition: 100% Silicon dioxide / kieselguhr CAS: 61790-53-2.
Choice of packaging:
- 150 gr can (about 500 ml), delivered with a pouring cap
- 300 gr can (about 1 liter), delivered with a powder lid
