Some information about exotic verbena

Also known as Lisea cubeba, exotic verbena is a very valuable plant native to Central America, where it is still cultivated. It is also produced in Asia (China, Vietnam, Japan) and in Oceania. Its essential oil is extracted from fruits that resemble berries. The essential oil has a smell that is both sweet and lemony, warm and exotic.

Exotic verbena essential oil is very pleasant when diffused with an intense lemony fragrance similar to that of Lemongrass. It is interesting in the case of nervousness but also to give a little tone to a tired person. Thanks to its richness in geranial and neral, exotic verbena essential oil also has excellent anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anti-infectious properties (especially in the case of osteoarthritis). Sedative, anti-neuralgic and endocrine harmonizing, it will ward off any dark or negative thoughts and stimulate your creativity and concentration.

Medical advice should be sought before using exotic verbena essential oil for people with asthma. This oil is dermocaustic and irritating to the skin, so consider diluting it with a vegetable oil for skin applications. The use of exotic verbena essential oil can cause a risk of hepatotoxicity in high doses and over a long period.


Usage tips

Essential oils are powerful natural substances and should therefore be used with care. Even if essential oils have been used since Antiquity, their mode of use and the precautions for use are often poorly known. Many books deal with essential oils. As an indication, some examples of use 


Inhalation use

To help you reduce or even stop your tobacco consumption, exotic verbena essential oil is an interesting ally. To do this, mix 1 drop of exotic verbena essential oil + 2 drops of eucalyptus radiata + 5 drops of marjoram on the inside of the wrists and inhale this mixture when the urge to smoke arises.

In case of emotional shock, the essential oil can also be of good help to you. Mix 5 drops of essential oil of marjoram + 5 drops of essential oil of Roman chamomile + 1 drop of essential oil of exotic verbena, then apply them in massage on the solar plexus and on the inner face of your wrist.

Application by massage or compressIt is advisable to mix a few drops of essential oil with vegetable oil (sweet almond, jojoba, macadamia, rosehip, argan, olive, etc.) to use as massage oil. You will use the essential oil of exotic verbena against depressive states and temporary anxieties. To do this, mix 20 drops of this essential oil + 20 drops of ravintsara + 20 drops of lavender in a neutral vegetable oil, then massage the solar plexus or the wrists 1 to 3 times a day.

To relieve arthritis pain, mix 30 drops of exotic verbena essential oil + 30 drops of Italian helichrysum + 30 drops of wintergreen with 30 ml of sweet almond vegetable oil, then apply a few drops of this mixture 3 times/day on the painful area.

Broadcast use


The essential oil of exotic verbena will be perfect in diffusion against states of stress or anxiety. Mix 2 drops of exotic verbena essential oils + 2 drops of mandarin essential oil + 2 drops of bitter orange petitgrain essential oil in your diffuser, then diffuse in your room for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Against hay fever, the essential oil of exotic verbena will also be formidable: in a bottle, pour 4 drops of essential oil of exotic verbena + 5 drops of Roman chamomile + 10 drops of lemon, then breathe 5 to 10 times / day in seasonal allergic period.


Oral useThe essential oil of exotic verbena can be useful to fight against a loss of voice. To do this, mix 30 drops of exotic verbena essential oil + 30 drops of linalool thyme + 30 drops of cypress in a bottle. Mix everything well, then ingest 2 drops of the mixture accompanied by 1 teaspoon of honey or on a neutral tablet, 2 to 3 times a day. after meals, for about 1 week.
