Some information about Palmarosa

This large herbaceous plant with red flowers is cultivated in South East Asia. The leaves are distilled to produce an essential oil with a sweet, flowery scent, with notes of geranium and rose. It is highly valued in cosmetics, but also very interesting in aromatic therapy, as a general tonic, very mild anti-infectious with a broad spectrum of action (bacteria, viruses, fungi). It is reputed to cleanse skin with imperfections or subject to discomfort. With its pleasant scent, Palmarosa essential oil is traditionally appreciated in foot care. Fresh and flowery, Palmarosa essential oil can be used to make your own homemade cosmetics (e.g. deodorants with feminine notes).

This plant is very common in the East and resembles the geranium. The sweetness of its sweet and flowery fragrance can remind one of the rose. Palmarosa is often used in perfumery to replace the rose. It combines perfectly with the scents of bergamot, lemongrass, geranium, cedar, lavender, orange and ylang-ylang.

This little-known oil is recommended as a priority for the care of all skin types, its action being threefold: it moisturises the epidermis, stimulates cell regeneration and regulates sebum secretion. With regular use, it helps to reduce wrinkles. Moreover, it is one of the best antibacterial agents. It is recommended for all skin infections such as pimples, but it also acts on the digestive system.

This oil is a pick-me-up, which will reduce stress, anxiety, irritability and jealousy!

Advice for use

Essential oils are powerful natural substances and should therefore be used with care. Even though essential oils have been used since ancient times, there is often a lack of knowledge about how to use them and the precautions to take. Many books deal with essential oils. It is therefore advisable to refer to them to find out the traditional methods of use.

As an indication, here are some examples of use

Application by massage or compressIt is advisable to mix a few drops of essential oil with a vegetable oil (sweet almond, jojoba, macadamia, rose hip, argan, olive, etc.) to use it as a massage oil.

To promote calm and relaxation, in case of anxiety and irritability, add 5 to 10 drops of palmarosa essential oil to a little vegetable oil in the palm of your hand, then massage the solar plexus.

To help stimulate the body's natural defences / to promote healthy urinary and respiratory tracts, add 5 to 10 drops of palmarosa essential oil to a little vegetable oil in the palm of your hand, then massage the affected areas.

To promote healthy skin, to help regenerate the skin, especially in cases of redness, irritation or various ailments (unsightly pimples), add 5 to 10 drops of palmarosa essential oil to a little vegetable oil in the palm of your hand, then massage the areas concerned. You can also add 1 drop to your day cream or lotion.

For young problem skin, mix 10 drops of palmarosa essential oil + 5 drops of geranium essential oil + 5 drops of tea tree essential oil in 2 tablespoons of sweet almond vegetable oil. Then apply to the face, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for about 10 minutes before wiping off.

Use by diffusion

Diffused for 15 to 30 minutes in living rooms and in the bedroom before going to bed, palmarosa essential oil will help the respiratory tract to function properly, in case of stress or anxiety and to relax.

Use in the bath As essential oils are not soluble in water, they must be mixed with an emulsifier before being poured into the bath. For example, they can be mixed with a liquid soap, a neutral shampoo (1 tablespoon) or our Solubol® dispersant. As a general rule, it is recommended not to exceed 15 drops per bath and not to stay in the bath for more than 20 minutes. Dispersing 10 to 15 drops of palmarosa essential oil in a bath will relax you and put you in good conditions for relaxation.

An essential oil is made up of chemically defined molecules (about 10,000 listed) that have been secreted by special plant cells. It can consist of from one to several hundred molecules, which helps explain why some essential oils have many properties but different therapeutic effectiveness. To guarantee the properties necessary for effective aromatherapy, it is important that an essential oil is 100% pure and natural (not cut, not deterpenated, not mixed with alcohol or vegetable oils) and preferably organic. This is the case for the essential oils we sell. They are sold in tinted bottles with a dropper cap.
