Some information about the sweet orange

Shrub from 3 to 10 metres high, abundant all around the Mediterranean with bright white and perfumed flowers. The fruit is harvested from October to April. The essential oil of the orange has a more or less dark orange colour and a sweet and sour fruity aroma. More than 1000 fruits are needed to obtain 1 kg of essential oil. The juice from the pressed fruit is mainly used in the beverage industry.

Its familiar scent blends well with cypress and the entire citrus family. An excellent skin tonic, it is suitable for all skin types, but particularly for oily skin, which it will beautify. Its cheerful, light and invigorating fragrance will bring you much joy if you are morose and a little depressed. It is also calming and sedative. It encourages calm and ensures a peaceful sleep. It rebalances the nervous system and dispels anxiety, restlessness and palpitations. Stomachic and carminative, it is antinauseant, and is an excellent digestive tonic. Applied pure to the skin, it soothes wasp or bee stings and combats skin slackening.

Advice for use

Essential oils are powerful natural substances and should therefore be used with care. Even if essential oils have been used since Antiquity, their mode of use and the precautions for use are often poorly understood. Many books deal with essential oils. It is therefore advisable to refer to it to find out about the traditional modes of use.

Here are some examples of use

Use by diffusionA very popular scent with children (and adults), orange essential oil will work wonders when diffused in the bedroom, to calm restless minds and promote sleep, while purifying the air. Diffuse 30 minutes in the bedroom before bedtime and between 30 minutes and 1 hour in the living rooms to purify the atmosphere.

Application by massage or compressApplication by massage or compress It is advisable to mix a few drops of essential oil with a vegetable oil (sweet almond, jojoba, macadamia, rose hip, argan, olive, etc.) to use it as a massage oil.

To promote peace of mind and good digestion, you can dilute 1 to 3 drops of orange essential oil in a vegetable oil, then massage locally the solar plexus and stomach.

For insect bites, put 1 drop of orange oil on the bite (be careful not to expose yourself to the sun immediately afterwards, otherwise use aspic lavender essential oil).

Oral use

To promote good digestion, you can dilute 1 drop of orange essential oil in a teaspoon of honey or vegetable oil, 3 times a day (maximum daily dose: 3 drops, i.e. 0.12 ml).

To flavour desserts, infusions, etc. To flavour desserts, infusions, etc.: 1 drop previously diluted in honey, milk or oil.

Use in the bathEssential oils are not soluble in water, so they must be mixed with an emulsifier before being poured into the bath. For example, they can be mixed with a liquid soap, a neutral shampoo (1 tablespoon) or our Solubol® dispersant. As a general rule, it is recommended not to exceed 10 drops per bath and not to stay in the bath for more than 20 minutes. Dispersing 4 to 5 drops of orange essential oil in a hot bath will invigorate and relax.

Note : For diffusion, you can use our 30 and 100 ml bottles (organic essential oil packaged by Penntybio, certified AB by Aroma Plantes).

An essential oil is made up of chemically defined molecules (about 10,000 listed) that have been secreted by special plant cells. It can consist of from one to several hundred molecules, which helps explain why some essential oils have many properties but different therapeutic effectiveness. To guarantee the properties necessary for effective aromatherapy, it is important that an essential oil is 100% pure and natural (not cut, not deterpenated, not mixed with alcohol or vegetable oils) and preferably organic. This is the case for the essential oils we sell. They are sold in tinted bottles with a dropper cap.
