Some information about eucalyptus globulus

There are more than 600 species of Eucalyptus, among which E.globulus, E.radiata are cultivated for their essential oil. Oil should be selected wisely for the desired applications. Moreover, the Eucalyptus market is very lucrative and leads producers to concentrate the oil into eucalyptol. Eucalyptus essential oil, very rich in eucalyptol, is mainly used in diffusion or for frictions and inhalations.

As a natural antiseptic, the essential oil of eucalyptus globulus has hardly any rival! Its fresh and camphorous scent blends well with lavender, rosemary and pine. His action is remarkable.

Antiviral and antibacterial, eucalyptus globulus essential oil limits the proliferation of bacteria and decongests the respiratory tract. It relieves cough and facilitates breathing thanks to its expectorant qualities. To help you breathe when you have a stuffy nose, place a handkerchief near your bed moistened with a few drops of eucalyptus globulus.

It can also relieve insect bites and control lice. Refreshing as the air, it will clarify ideas and promote intellectual concentration. For children prefer the essence of niaouli which is more delicate.

Attention !

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil should be avoided in case of hypertension and by people prone to epileptic seizures. May irritate sensitive skin. Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use in children under 6 years old.

Usage tips

Essential oils are powerful natural substances and should therefore be used with care. Even if essential oils have been used since Antiquity, their mode of use and the precautions for use are often poorly known. Many books deal with essential oils. It is therefore advisable to refer to it to find out about the traditional modes of use.

As an indication, some examples of use

Use by broadcastThis oil is widely used for diffusion. It will relieve blocked airways. Diffuse 15 to 30 min in the bedroom before bedtime. It is also very effective against cooking odors, to purify the ambient air. Diffuse for 30 min. Finally, it is very popular for repelling mosquitoes and other insects. Diffuse for 30 min. Be careful not to use for prolonged diffusion.

Inhalation use

 

Used in inhalation, it will relieve obstructed airways. 2 drops of globose eucalyptus + 2 of thymol thyme + 2 of fine lavender + 2 of pine, 2 to 3 times a day for a week.

 

Use in the bathSince essential oils are not soluble in water, they must be mixed with an emulsifier before pouring them into the bath. For example, they can be mixed with a liquid soap, a neutral shampoo (1 tablespoon) or our natural dispersant Solubol®. As a general rule, it is advisable not to exceed 10 drops per bath and not to stay longer than 20 minutes. For globular eucalyptus, it will relieve irritated or damaged skin. 10 drops diluted in milk.

  

Application by massage or compressIt is advisable to mix a few drops of essential oil with a vegetable oil (sweet almond, jojoba, macadamia, rosehip, argan, olive, etc.) to use it as a massage oil.

In case of skin irritations or light burns, but also to help you clear the airways, the essential oil of globular eucalytpus will prove effective. 20 drops of eucalyptus + 60 drops of fine lavender diluted in vegetable oil, in localized massages.

 

Oral use

To promote proper functioning of the respiratory tract, dilute 1 drop in a teaspoon of honey or vegetable oil, 2 to 3 times a day (maximum daily dose: 3 drops, or 0.12 ml).

Against urinary tract infections, 1 to 2 drops in a teaspoon of honey to let dissolve in the mouth, 2 to 3 times a day.
