The ciste is a bushel of 1 to 2 meters high, with blackish stems and glutnous branches. Triggered, lanceolate leaves have a glabrous upper face and a cottonish lower face. The flowers are terminal and large. The ciste blooms from April to June. We meet him in France (Provence, Alpes maritime, Languedoc,) in Spain, Portugal or North Africa like Morocco. It exudes a resinous product (oleoresin) called labdanum or ladanum with a strong balsamic odor that allows the dehydration of the plant to be stopped. The cistus ladaniferous essential oil is well known as hemostatic. It is traditionally used in aromatherapy to stop small bleeding, treat small cuts and promote healing. It is also known for its interesting accompanying effects in some autoimmune or viral diseases.
