Greenpeace, the Cosmetox Guide

the cosmetox guide by Greenpeace

With its 64-page guide, Greenpeace is questioning both cosmetics manufacturers and consumers.

Based on the new regulations currently being drawn up at European level (the REACH project), Greenpeace, in a bid to inform consumers, decided to question French cosmetics and perfume companies about their policy on the use of toxic substances.

The question is also put to consumers.

Without giving up on innovation, let's start opting for cosmetics that are free from toxic substances, and let's think more about product quality rather than quantity.

By consuming better, we can also consume less.

On our website, you'll find shampoos, of shower gels , makeup, of detergents,. that are guaranteed petrochemical-free and at least as effective, if not better !

Invasive industrial chemicals

There are currently more than 100 000 industrial chemicals in free circulation on the European market. Global production has risen from 1 million tonnes in 1939 to over 400 million tonnes today !

Most of these chemicals have been marketed under permissive European regulations, without any relevant assessment of their impact on health and the environment, particularly in the long term.

In our bodies

200 : That's the number of synthetic chemical substances that can be found in our bodies today, making them a veritable receptacle for potentially dangerous substances.

Year after year, this pollution of the body increases and becomes more complex.

Yet there is very little scientific data on the long-term effects of most of these pollutants, and in particular on their possible interactions (cocktail effect).

Here are some of the serious health effects associated with persistent and bioaccumulative substances :

  • Testicular, ovarian or breast cancer
  • Loss of fertility and fall in the number of viable spermatozoa
  • Growth and development abnormalities
  • Damage to the immune system
